Do you have a knack for understanding manufacturing operations but you're also a people person? A Unit Supervisor lets you do just that as you play an important role in carrying out the company's production goals. You'll need to demonstrate leadership skills direct manufacturing work in a safe and efficient manner.

In this role you will help to maintain an accident free workplace by ensuring environmental, health, and safety standards are being followed. You'll also have the opportunity to help coach and develop technicians and operators through goal-setting and training. Supervisors also make sure shift teams are operating according to the production plans.

Continuous improvement is important in this role. You'll be involved in the day-to day operations to help discover new ways to improve the group's performance. You are also responsible for ensuring product quality is maintained and quality issues are addressed quickly.

You will communicate with unit leaders, engineers, the leadership team to ensure all safety, production, and cost goals are met. You'll also ensure communication on issues for oncoming shifts.

To get this job, an Associate degree is often required. Experience with Six Sigma, and LEAN manufacturing will give you a leg up.

  • Promote safety practices and habits
  • Manage individual and team performance
  • Develop a capable and effective team through training and developing each operator
  • Ensure that equipment is properly operated, monitored, and maintained
  • Drive consistent operating standards and operating disciplines across all shifts
  • Lead shift team to operate in accordance with production plans
  • Communicate changes to the production plans and other work plans
  • Assist in planning and coordination of maintenance activities
