Are you the kind of person who's always up for a challenge? Do you like being part of a team making a daily impact on company performance? If so, being a Process Technician could be a great fit for you.

As a Process Technician, you'll monitor the refining process for the fuels, chemicals, and plastics that make modern society possible - everything from milk jugs to medical devices. You will keep an eye on the performance of plant equipment and process conditions. You'll safely operate pumps, compressors, and other plant equipment, making changes to the operating process as needed to maintain product quality.

You will also operate control room instrumentation systems and be responsible for collecting samples of products for laboratory testing. You'll need both strong problem-solving and communication skills. You must also have a good foundation in both math and science to be successful as a Process Technician.

While some of these positions require only a high school diploma to get started, you may need to acquire a degree such as an associate’s degree in process technology to continue to rise in your career. This type of degree will help you learn physics and engineering principles. Strong technical and problem solving skills are essential for Process Technicians.
