As a leader, you’ll also need to work with other department heads to ensure that the process is as efficient and effective as possible. You'll align plant operations with your company's goals and strategies.

In order to qualify for this job, previous hands-on experience working on the production floor is helpful. Additional education in management or technical fields can also make you stand out. Look for training courses to give your resume a boost.

  • Facilitate employee development
  • Develop annual and long-term operating budgets
  • Conduct monthly analysis to ensure costs are in compliance with budgetary goals
  • Direct implementation and continuous improvement of all safety standards and practices
  • Coordinate production, processing, and distribution activities
  • Develop quality control systems to help identify production problems
  • Work with other supervisors to coordinate operations
  • Prepare production reports and personnel records
