Safety is your number one concern in this role. You will complete a safety orientation program and attend regularly scheduled safety training afterwards. It's important to follow safety and personal protective equipment policies. You'll be on the lookout for unsafe conditions report them to your supervisor.

You'll also assist in the collection and analysis of data from sampling, reports, maps, drawings, and tests to evaluate and plan projects. Part of this work will be to help define what work needs to be done in complex lab or field investigations to measure and sample from an environmental standpoint.

If this sounds like you, it's good to know that you'll need a high school diploma with at least 2 years’ experience in industrial related job. An associate’s degree in safety/health or a related technical field will be helpful.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain knowledge of regulatory systems and procedures
  • Test workplaces for environmental hazards, such as exposure to radiation, chemical or biological hazards, or excessive noise
  • Verify availability or monitor use of safety equipment, such as hearing protection, safety glasses or respirators
  • Evaluate situations when a worker has refused to work on the grounds that danger or potential harm exists
  • Maintain all required environmental records and documentation
  • Supply, operate, or maintain personal protective equipment
