As a Shipping and Receiving Clerk, one of your main duties will be keeping records of all the shipments that come in and go out, making sure that each one contains the correct items and are headed to the right destination. You might need to communicate with the shipping company, the customer, or the supplier if an issue comes up.

Depending on the company, you may be asked to pack and unpack parcels yourself. This will require heavy lifting ability and endurance. You’ll double check to make sure all items are safely and properly fit into their shipping containers before departure. This job offers a terrific way to get into a company and build a career.

  • Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements for shipping and delivery of materials
  • Deliver materials to departments using hand truck, conveyor, or sorting bins
  • Store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock
